Purpose
The Physicians Academy for Clinical and Management Excellence designs and implements independent, strategic, and collaborative educational activities based on identified educational needs and performance gaps of physicians and other healthcare professionals worldwide. All activities are developed and implemented based on adult learning principals and practices. The purpose of the CME Program is to improve physician competence or performance by providing opportunities to reinforce, teach, and evaluate optimal strategies for patient care.
Content Areas
Activities developed by Physicians Academy are based on identified educational need and are not limited to specific specialties of medicine. Content areas for these educational activities span the breadth of primary care as well as all of the medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. The CME Program at Physicians Academy is currently focused on cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, neurology, oncology, psychiatry, and women's health.
Targeted Audience
The activities developed by Physicians Academy are intended to educate physicians from all specialties and subspecialties, and often also include other healthcare professionals.
Types of Activities
Physicians Academy designs independent, strategic, innovative, and collaborative educational activities based on adult learning principals and practices in live, enduring, and journal based formats. The delivery medium/media for each activity is selected based on analysis of target audience preference, activity setting, objectives, and desired results of the activity.
Expected Results
Physicians Academy designs activities that meet the following goals:
- Physicians Academy will present CME content that is balanced, objective, free from commercial bias, and based on the best available evidence.
- Physicians Academy will achieve a high level of satisfaction among participants, course directors, and faculty members.
- Physicians Academy CME activities will increase the competence of healthcare providers through increased awareness and enhanced knowledge of the most current methods of patient care.
- Physicians Academy CME activities will increase the performance of healthcare providers through simulation using clinical case scenarios and problem based exercises.
- Physicians Academy will increase patient outcomes through educational interventions by using appropriate mechanisms.
- Physicians Academy will operate an efficient, effective, and compliant CME Program.
- Physicians Academy will review and update the operational plan with measurable goals on an annual basis.
